It’s been a week since I last posted anything and, in all honesty, it’s been strange not being present on here. I ended April with quite a lot of things going on and so last week I felt like I was constantly playing catch up with myself. When I wasn’t preoccupied with personal matters, I was truly exhausted from being pregnant and so I decided that I needed to be kind to myself by having a week of rest. Saying that, it’s amazing to be back!

{The oak face frames handmade by my husband are all on now, this is what the sink area looked like before the start of the weekend}

{During our weekend we spent lots of time having tea/cake breaks in the house, plus, Olivia and Harry shared many a cuddles.}
The weekend was a momentous one, that’s for sure! King Charles III had his Coronation, alongside Queen Camilla, on Saturday. I mean, I guess you’d have to be living underneath a rock to not know that information!
Saturday morning was super chilled, we woke up at a reasonable time (any time after 7:30am is reasonable to me at the moment) and sat in bed with a cup of tea, had our breakfast and then snuggled down to watch the historic Coronation. Wow, it was simply incredible to watch and truly magnificent. Afterwards, we ate leftover vegan chilli con carne for lunch which was delicious – even if I do say so myself. *Chef’s kiss*. In the late afternoon we ventured over to our very close friends’ home for an afternoon of patriarchal fun. Olivia played with their two children in the garden until the sun went down and we caught up on near enough everything. It truly was a beautiful day.

{My new Moleskine Watercolour Art Notebook arrived and I have already completed a collage within it. I will get around to showing you my creation once I’ve had a little bit more practise with collaging as I think it’d be nice to journal my progress.}
Sunday followed a similar rhythm in that it was relaxed. Olivia and I went to Sunday Mass and afterwards went to the Church Hall for a Coronation celebration of tea and cake. For lunch I made my favourite soup which was Leek and Potato soup. I honestly adore that soup and enjoy making it with my own ratios of leeks to potatoes. It truly is yummy! We then opted for a visit to a local park to enjoy the incredible May sunshine and took our frisbee, along with our dog Harry for a good walk. I have to admit, I got very tired after around 45 minutes and so we did have to head home prematurely. I have been quite good in listening to my body and understanding when I need to stop or at least slow down.
Monday is a Bank Holiday and so Olivia and I are making our scarecrow for the village’s scarecrow competition. It’s really exciting as we plan on moving into our cottage the same weekend as the festival so it will be so lovely to commemorate our final inhabitance of our cottage in less than two week’s time! I cannot wait to show you what our scarecrow ends up looking like in two week’s time!
Have a fantastic week and be kind to yourself.
With love,
Katherine x
